Make a Difference
on the Waterfront
Whether you have maritime experience or simply want to give back, there is a place for you at The WaterFront Center.
LEND A HAND. SHARE A SKILL. BUILD COMMUNITY.
There is a way for everyone to help.
Volunteers help care for our vessels, support youth and education programs, welcome guests, assist at special events, participate in community science, and preserve Oyster Bay’s maritime heritage. Opportunities may be one-time, seasonal, or ongoing—and many roles require no prior boating experience.

Join the CHRISTEEN and IDA MAY Volunteer Crew
Volunteers have always been central to the story of our historic vessels. CHRISTEEN, built in 1883, was restored and continues to be cared for through volunteer dedication. IDA MAY was completed after more than 33,000 volunteer hours and now serves as a classroom on the water.
Today, members of the 1883 Society help care for these vessels and share Oyster Bay’s maritime history with the community.
