Why Youth Sailing is the Right Choice for Your Child this Fall
Why enroll or why continue enrolling your child in sailing programs? Sailing is more than just a hobby, it is a competitive Olympic sport that requires muscle strength, endurance/agility, cardiovascular fitness, mental wellness, relaxation, concentration and communication. Sailing can lead to high school sailing, college sailing or something even more! Also, WFC’s youth summer program have competitive prices compared to other clubs and sports.

Shark Week: A History of Fear and Fiction
Shark Week 2020 combines the efforts of scientists and celebrities as they come together to appreciate these awe-inspiring creatures. In addition to Mike Tyson's opening night fight, you will see former basketball player Shaquille O'Neal hosting with Dude Perfect and former NASA Scientist turned youtuber, Mark Rober, on the show "Shaq Attack" (Monday 8/10). Even Will Smith and Snopp Dogg join the ranks with "Will Smith: Off The Deep End"(Tuesday 8/11) and "Sharkadelic Summer" (Thursday 8/13).

With summer in full swing, Oyster Bay has once again become vibrant with flora and fauna. Missing from this equation is all the shoreside and on-water events that make our little corner of Long Island unique! As the critical state of the pandemic extends further into the summer, chances for families to experience the Oyster Bay Wildlife Refuge and all it has to offer become few and far between.

How To Teach Youth Sailing over Zoom
Social distancing has changed every aspect of our lives, from going to school, to running a youth sailing program. When bad weather hits and youth sailors cannot sail, we can still meet with them online. Here, at The WaterFront Center, when weather cancels our sailing program, our youth programs continue. Organize a Zoom call for your sailors with their instructors for a social distance sailing day!

COVID-19 Service Update (May 22nd)
The WaterFront Center continues to operate remotely through at least May 15 in adherence to the “New York State on PAUSE” executive order issued on March 22. While all of our Spring in-person programmings has been canceled, we have developed engaging on-line classes covering a variety of topics.
