Adventure Sailing

Learn the concepts of catamaran sailing as you speed across the shores of Oyster Bay on our fast and exciting Hobie Catamarans!  This program features plenty of challenge and adventure to keep it interesting and fun on the water. Sailors team up with partners or small groups in different styles of boats as they build seamanship and practice problem solving in this mixed-skills group. With the focus on fun and adventure on the Bay, Adventure Sailing is the right fit for beginner, intermediate and recreational sailors. Prerequisite: Swim Check & Capsize Drill* Skill level: All skills Recommended sailor weight: 80 lbs weight minimum What's next?: Enroll in multiple sessions of Adventure Sailing or take the step up to 420 Prep if interested in high performance sailing or racing. *Sailors must demonstrate comfort swimming in Oyster Bay without a lifejacket. Instructors will train students how to recovery from a capsize (when the boat tips over.) Swim checks and capsize drills are performed on the first day of the program alongside WFC docks.
  • Schedule: SUMMER: (Two-week sessions)  Session 1: June 24 - July 5 (program on July 4th);  Session 2: July 8 - July 19;  Session 3: July 22 - August 2;  Session 4: August 5 - August 16
  • Day & Time: SUMMER (Monday - Friday)  Half Day, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • Ages: Grades 7 - 10
