Explore the estuary on kayaks and sailboats, engage marine animals, fish, and participate in fun educational STEM activities. Sailing experiences include a Christeen sail and half-day sailing instruction on Optis or Sonars each day.

Naturalists lead a variety of activities promoting environmental stewardship, such as oceanography, fishing, kayaking and dredging for local benthic marine life aboard Christeen.

Description:

420 Prep introduces the basics of double-handed dinghy sailing. Sailors learn advanced skills including spinnaker handling, trapeze, and crew work. Continue refining the skills gained in this class by joining High School Sailing in the fall. Each sailor may enroll in multiple sessions until they are ready to join the WFC Race Team.

The twin-hulls and low draft of our Hobie Waves provide a stable, yet exciting boat for learning the concepts of catamaran sailing. New sailors have room to grow while experienced sailors develop self-reliance and confidence sailing with partners. A great choice for those interested in recreational sailing.

Excited for a new challenge after completing Opti Prep? This full day program trains sailors through skill-based drills as they prepare for regattas around Long Island Sound and the JSA Opti Championship in August. Our experienced coaches ensure your sailor has the skill to compete against the best racers in our area!

Description:

During the summer, sailors take advantage of full day practices and focus on spinnaker, trapeze, and boat-handling while learning and fortifying tactics and strategy. The team travels around Long Island and Connecticut to numerous regattas before attending the JSA 420 Championship in August.
