sonar This sleek one-design racing boat is used in our adult sailing programs. It sports a fin keel and a cockpit large enough for 5 adults. This comfortable yet easy to sail boat is perfect for a day sail around West Harbor and even beyond.

Private Lessons allow for tailored instruction in any area of your choosing. Whether you are looking for comprehensive instruction or want to work on specific skills, Private Lessons are the perfect choice to meet your individual goals.

Fee: $35/hour
Ages: All

* A 50% deposit per person per course is required to secure your spot in any course. Classes are held rain or shine. The WaterFront Center (WFC) reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a class due to severe weather conditions. WFC reserves the right to cancel any instructional sailing program if total enrollment is less than two (2) people. Full payment is required on the course start date. Private lessons may not be applied to any certification course as course time, all certification courses are offered as is - unless special arrangements are made before the lesson begins. Deposits are refundable, less $50 materials/administrative fee, up to one week prior to the start of the course. If a student cancels within one(1) week of the course start date, the student may reschedule within the same season only. No refunds will be given within one week of the course start date. Once a course has begun no refunds are given for any reason. All rates and dates are subject to change. If any customer cancels with less than 24 hours’ notice, without a doctor’s note or they do not show for the class, no refund will be given and the program cannot be rescheduled.

Double and Single Kayaks

As you spend more time kayaking and appreciating the wildlife around you, there is little doubt you will begin to learn the lingo, and maximize your paddling fun. We have both single and double kayaks available so you and your friends can get outside and enjoy beautiful scenic days on Oyster Bay.

PiXel

The PiXel is stable, roomy, fast and self-bailing - a giant step into the future of small boat design. It is designed as a junior trainer, but has the legroom and capacity for adult enjoyment. The 13' 9" sloop was designed by Bruce Kirby, who also designed the Laser, the Sonar and the Ideal 18.

Sunfish

sunfish The Sunfish dinghy is a popular one design dinghy which can be sailed with one adult and one child, but is most often sailed single-handed. At 13 feet 9 inches (4.2 m) in length and 130 lb (59 kg) in weight, the Sunfish is used as a day sailor or a racing boat, with over 1000 racing events every year worldwide.
