	PRIVATE SAILING & KAYAK LESSONS Optimist 23' Sonar Kayaks Pixel Sunfish Optimist The Optimist, one of the most popular beginner vessels in the world, is a small sailing dinghy intended for use by children up to the age of 15. Very small children are sometimes "doubled up" but usually the boats are single-handers. In this mode children gain confidence and improved skills. A staple for many sailing schools, they are the first boat most beginners will sail. Private Lessons allow for tailored instruction in any area of your choosing. Whether you are looking for comprehensive instruction or want to work on specific skills, Private Lessons are the perfect choice to meet your individual goals. Schedule: Arranged at your convenience Fee: $120 per person for 2 hours, $50 per person each additional hour* Ages: All 23' Sonar This sleek one-design racing boat is used in our adult sailing programs. It sports a fin keel and a cockpit large enough for 5 adults. This comfortable yet easy to sail boat is perfect for a day sail around West Harbor and even beyond. One-on-one instruction is the ideal choice for individualized learning. Customized to meet your interests and goals, ranging from introductory to performance sailing in a vessel of your choice. Certifications and spinnaker training are also available through private lessons to allow for greater flexibility in scheduling. Kayaking is a great and easy way to get outdoors and be inspired by the beauty of nature. As you spend more time kayaking and appreciating the wildlife around you, there is little doubt you will begin to learn the lingo, and maximize your paddling fun. We have both single and double kayaks available so you and your friends can get outside and enjoy beautiful scenic days on Oyster Bay. Schedule: Arranged at your convenience Fee: $75 pp for 2 hours - $35 pp for each additional hour* Ages: All Pixel The Pixel is stable, roomy, fast and self-bailing - a giant step into the future of small boat design. It is designed as a junior trainer, but has the legroom and capacity for adult enjoyment. The 13' 9" sloop was designed by Bruce Kirby, who also designed the Laser, the Sonar and the Ideal 18. Schedule: Arranged at your convenience Fee: $120 per person for 2 hours, $50 per person each additional hour* Ages: All Sunfish The Sunfish dinghy is a popular one design dinghy which can be sailed with one adult and one child, but is most often sailed single-handed. At 13 feet 9 inches (4.2 m) in length and 130 lb (59 kg) in weight, the Sunfish is used as a day sailor or a racing boat, with over 1000 racing events every year worldwide. Private Lessons allow for tailored instruction in any area of your choosing. Whether you are looking for comprehensive instruction or want to work on specific skills, Private Lessons are the perfect choice to meet your individual goals. Schedule: Arranged at your convenience Fee: $120 per person for 2 hours, $50 per person each additional hour* Ages: All * A 50% deposit per person per course is required to secure your spot in any course. Classes are held rain or shine. The WaterFront Center reserves the right to reschedule or cancel a class due to severe weather conditions. Full payment is required on the course start date. Private lessons may not be applied to any certification course as course time, all certification courses are offered as is - unless special arrangements are made before the lesson begins. Deposits are refundable, less $50 materials/administrative fee, up to one week prior to the start of the course. If a student cancels within one(1) week of the course start date, the student may reschedule within the same season only. No refunds will be given within one week of the course start date. Once a course has begun no refunds are given for any reason. All rates and dates are subject to change. * Late Adult Registrations: If you register for a program that begins in 7 days or less we cannot secure your spot in the program and therefore we do not take online payment for that item. However, we may still request the registration, and if we can accommodate you we will take payment by check or credit card in person before the program starts.
