Oyster Festival with the WaterFront Center!

Take a Sail on Christeen!
Christeen is going to take three sails on each day to explore the harbor. Get a whole new perspective of Oyster Bay and Cold Spring Harbor, pass by Billy Joel and other Gold Coast homes as you glide along aboard the oldest Oyster Sloop in North America and National Historic Landmark Christeen! Sails are going to be one and a half hours long leaving from the pier at the Western Waterfront where the tall ships will be on display. Children twelve (12) and under are free but must be accompanied by an adult, adults are $20 per sail. There will be no reservations taken in advance, all Christeen Sail tickets are on a first come first serve basis with signups open one (1) hour before the start of each sail time.

Sail times for Saturday and Sunday: 11:30am – 1:00pm, 1:30pm – 3:00pm and 4:00pm – 5:30pm

Get a Taste of Sailing!
The WaterFront Center is offering free one hour sails aboard our twenty-three foot (23’) Sonar keelboats with your very own Captain. The former Olympic Class sailboat, the Sonar, is perfect for a day sail with the family either around West Harbor or out to Long Island Sound. Take a sail during Oyster Festival with your captain and find out if sailing is for you. Signups will be taken on a first come first serve basis at our tent in front of the Western Waterfront pier where the tall ships will be on display. No children under five (5) are permitted and children under the age of sixteen (16) must be accompanied by an adult. Sail times begin at 11am and end at approximately 6pm. Sail times are subject to change and exact times are yet to be determined.

Discover Local Marine Life!
The WaterFront Center will have two huge touch tanks set up just north of the railroad tracks when you make your entrance into the Oyster Festival towards T.R. Beach & Park. Stop by and learn more about the organisms that inhabit the bottom of Long Island Sound! Horseshoe Crabs, Sea stars, Spider Crabs, and other local organisms will be available for you to take a closer look at and to hold! Our great team of educators will be there to answer all of your questions and provide interesting facts about each organism!

Kayak and SUP Rentals
Weather permitting and depending on availability our kayak and SUP fleet will be available for rental on a first come first serve basis. Stop by our building on 1 West End Avenue to take out a kayak or SUP!
